The tragic incident occurred in the Badakhshan province of Afghanistan, specifically in the Topkhana mountains along the Koran-Munjan and Zibak districts.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) official has officially confirmed that the aircraft involved in the crash is not registered in India. The crashed plane has been identified as a Moroccan-registered DF 10 aircraft, as stated by a senior DGCA official.
